We believe that “the church” is not a building but a people. God sent Jesus to unite all people through His life, death, and resurrection. These people join together to devote themselves to God’s Word, breaking bread, caring for one another, and prayer. It is our desire that “church” doesn’t just happen on a specific day, at a specific time, or even at a given location but that “church” happens when God’s family gathers together to love Him, love each other, and disciple one another to know and love Him more. With that said, there are some specific questions that may arise when you are getting ready to come join us at one of our gatherings. Here are some frequently asked questions that may help you feel more comfortable joining us…

SUNDAY gathering

What type of preaching/teaching can be expected?

We teach straight out of the Bible. We go verse by verse, book by book. This is called expository preaching. Our communicators do their best to articulate the background, context, and main ideas of each section of Scripture. We also love connecting the passages we are teaching through with the current state of our world and how we can apply these truths to everyday life.

Is there music and what style does it resemble?

Yes! We love to sing songs of praise to God. We are very blessed to have a variety of gifted musicians from all different types of musical backgrounds. We sing hymns, traditional praise songs, and contemporary worship music. We normally have a full band that is comprised of guitars, drums, and multiple singers. Some weeks we have a smaller group that is more acoustically driven. We love experiencing variety in how we sing and we would love for you to join us to add to that variety.

What do most people wear?

Everyone is encouraged to dress in whatever they are comfortable in. Some people wear shorts, some wear jeans, and others wear dresses and dress clothes. Whatever you would normally wear when you are hanging out with friends is a great place to start.

What is the childcare like?

Children are of utmost importance to us at Fort Myers Community Church. We desire to partner with parents to teach children about Jesus Christ. We believe that making disciples starts at home, so we want to walk alongside of parents and families to help equip them to lead their children well. At every Sunday service, we engage the kids with the Good News of Jesus Christ. When you arrive at FMCC, a member of our connect team will guide you to our FMCC Kids check-in station. Once there, our friendly check-in volunteers will help you register your child and assign you a security number that is unique to your family. Our host will then accompany you and your child to their age appropriate group. While you are worshipping, your child will be in a safe, secure and nurturing environment. After the service you will return to where your child was dropped off and present your security number to our volunteers. FMCC Kids serves children from infant to elementary school ages.

Are there times you gather other than on Sunday morning?

Yes. We gather all throughout the week in Community Groups. Email info@fmcc.life for more information

Do you have Sunday school or something similar?

Yes. Throughout the year, we host different Bible Studies that are held either before or after our services.

When do you take communion?

We partake in the sacrament of communion at least one time per month.

Is there a leadership development pipeline?

Yes. Raising up leaders is one of our greatest joys. If you are interested in learning more please email info@fmcc.life

What do I do when I arrive?

We have a connect team member outside that will guide you where parking is available. Once you have entered the church we encourage you to stop by our connect center table in the front foyer. Someone from our connect team can show you around and provide you with information about our church.
