We believe that “the church” is not a building but a people. God sent Jesus to unite all people through His life, death, and resurrection. These people join together to devote themselves to God’s Word, breaking bread, caring for one another, and prayer. It is our desire that “church” doesn’t just happen on a specific day, at a specific time, or even at a given location but that “church” happens when God’s family gathers together to love Him, love each other, and disciple one another to know and love Him more. With that said, there are some specific questions that may arise when you are getting ready to come join us at one of our gatherings. Here are some frequently asked questions that may help you feel more comfortable joining us…
SUNDAY GATHERING
What type of preaching/teaching can be expected?
We teach straight from the Bible, going verse by verse and book by book. This approach, known as expository preaching, allows God’s Word to set the agenda rather than our opinions or preferences. Our communicators seek to faithfully explain the background, context, and main ideas of each passage, helping Scripture come into clear focus. We also love connecting what the Bible says to the world we live in today, showing how timeless truth meets everyday life. The goal is simple: to understand God’s Word rightly and to live it faithfully, right where we are.
Is there music and what style does it resemble?
Yes! We love to sing songs of praise to God. We are very blessed to have a variety of gifted musicians from all different types of musical backgrounds. We sing hymns, traditional praise songs, and contemporary worship music. We normally have a full band that is comprised of guitars, drums, and multiple singers. Some weeks we have a smaller group that is more acoustically driven. We love experiencing variety in how we sing and we would love for you to join us to add to that variety.
What do most people wear?
Everyone is encouraged to dress in whatever they are comfortable in. Some people wear shorts, some wear jeans, and others wear dresses and dress clothes. Whatever you would normally wear when you are hanging out with friends is a great place to start.
What is the childcare like?
Children are of great importance to us at Fort Myers Community Church. We desire to partner with parents to help children know and love Jesus Christ. We believe disciple-making begins in the home, so our aim is to walk alongside families, encouraging and equipping parents to lead their children with confidence and faith. At every Sunday service, our FMCC Kids team shares the Good News of Jesus Christ in engaging, age-appropriate ways. When you arrive, a member of our Connect Team will gladly guide you to the FMCC Kids check-in station. Our friendly volunteers will assist you with registration and provide a secure check-in number unique to your family. A host will then walk you and your child to their age-appropriate classroom. While you worship, your child will be cared for in a safe, secure, and nurturing environment. After the service, simply return to your child’s classroom and present your security number to our volunteers. FMCC Kids serves children from infancy through elementary school, creating a joyful and trusted place for them to grow in faith.
Are there times you gather other than on Sunday morning?
Yes. We gather all throughout the week in Community Groups and Bible Studies. Email info@fmcc.life for more information
Do you have Sunday school or something similar?
Yes. Throughout the year, we host different Bible Studies that are held either before or after our services.
When do you take communion?
We partake in the sacrament of communion on the first Sunday of every month, as well as at other times throughout the year.
Is there a leadership development pipeline?
Yes. Raising up leaders is one of our greatest joys. If you are interested in learning more please email info@fmcc.life
What do I do when I arrive?
We have a Connect Team member outside who will gladly guide you to available parking. Once inside, we encourage you to stop by our Connect Center table in the front foyer. A member of our team would love to show you around, answer any questions, and help you get connected by sharing more information about our church.
