Our Story

On February 8, 2015, a small group of people gathered in a home with a simple but weighty question: what might God do if a church were formed through discipling relationships in the Fort Myers community? As they opened God’s Word together, they were led to Luke 19:41–44 and asked the Lord to give them the same heart as Jesus, a heart that weeps over the lostness of the city it loves. As those early gatherings continued, God began opening doors to invite others into homes and lives, walking together toward the cross of Jesus through intentional discipleship.

Each family in that living room shared a longing to see a church that would glorify God by making disciples who love God, love others, and make disciples. From that desire, Fort Myers Community Church was born. In January of 2023, the Lord provided a significant milestone when a 10-acre property with two buildings was given to FMCC debt-free. The church that previously owned the property longed to leave a lasting legacy of gospel impact, and that generous gift has propelled us forward in our vision to see lives, relationships, and our community transformed by the Good News of Jesus.

Discipling relationships within biblical community remain at the heart of who we are. We believe we grow best in our relationship with God as we live life together in the family He designed. This takes shape through community groups, Bible studies, age-specific ministries, and other gospel-centered environments.

It is our commitment to be the kind of church that, if we ceased to exist, our community would feel the loss. We actively seek partnerships throughout Fort Myers so we can live out the gospel by serving and loving those around us. We believe true gospel transformation happens most powerfully through discipling relationships. Join us as we seek to love God, love others, and make disciples.
